XnView Sketch is the latest android application to join the XnView family and is no exception to the previous applications of same label. But, it may not be what you all are thinking. Yes, you got it right! It is not a sketching tool ; rather it is an effects engine with different options available to customize your pictures. However, the app is not available in certain android phones. So, if you are one of them, you are on the losing side this time.
The app is developed by XnView, which is a software used to view, organize, convert and edit graphical files and videos. It supports over 400 formats and is free for private use. It is available for windows, Mac OS, Linux, etc. Some of their previous works are XnView MP, XnView Convert XnView Photo Fx, XnView Retro, etc. XnView has won several reputed awards and has a rating of four out of five stars from both, the editors and the users according to CNN.
Now, talking about the features, the user interface is quite easy to use.You can select any of the pictures from the phone gallery using image picker. There are a total of 9 effects and the sketch me effect was the best one. It transforms your image into a cartoon one with perfection. It was like watching a cartoon show with myself as the lead hero. There are many other effects like black and white and half colored, etc. with the names suggesting their functions. Also, there are no ads popping while you are busy with your creative side, unlike the other android apps. But the best one was, you can take photos with camera while the app is running and it will be directly loaded to the app for use. And last but not the least, you can directly share your newly customized photos with your friends as the app provides you with internet support.
The app is quite fast and smooth in normal running conditions. However, there were some problems encountered during selecting an image from the gallery because the image picker explores the whole gallery every time it opens. However, it depends on the size of gallery. If your default folder is quite small, there might not be any problem. The colors of the app are brilliant and you get to see a bright and colorful display to praise. The system supports most of the file formats which adds to the ease. Also, you can store the new pictures in hard drive and use them any time in the future.
XnView is a good android application for time pass and fun. But there could have been something better. Some of the effects were seen before and were repeated to me. Also, if there could have been something like actually sketching, then nothing more could have been asked. But still, my experience with this app was quite exciting and I will advice everyone to try it, at least once.
